On September 15, 2023, local time, COSCO Shipping held the inaugural ceremony of its self-operated "Europe-Eastern South America" route and the first inland channel service product in Brazil in Rio de Janeiro.
The inaugural ceremony of the "Europe-Eastern South America" container liner route was held at the ICTSI terminal of the Port of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil that morning. The "New Nantong" departing from here will load goods from Brazil, Uruguay, Argentina and other countries, transport them to the European destination port and deliver them to customers.
"Europe-Eastern South America" route
This route provides more than 3,000 standard container spaces per flight, focusing on South American countries such as Brazil, Uruguay, Argentina, as well as European countries such as the United Kingdom, Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium and Portugal, to better promote economic and trade exchanges and ensure the stability of the supply chain. The opening of this route allows more goods to enter and leave the Port of Rio every day, which will not only bring more income to Rio State, but also facilitate the export of bulk commodities in the neighboring state of Minas Gerais.
What do customers say?
Coffee beans produced in Brazil are popular among consumers around the world. 65% of the company's annual coffee exports will be shipped to Europe. The newly added "South America East-Europe" route by COSCO Shipping has improved the convenience of the company's trade with Europe and reduced transportation costs.
